Sunday Church

Yesterday was Sunday and my family and I went to church as always at 10am. The service yesterday was different though because the youth was taking church. My brother is in youth so he was playing guitar...... Well it didn't really look different because he normally plays! It was cool to see different people taking church and in a different way. My favourite thing about the service was the quiz. The kids were only in for part 1 of the quiz because we had to go out to our Sunday school which is called Dynamite Bay.

When we all went out to the back hall, we played a game as usual to start off. Next week we are running church and Dynamite Bay for their services always has a dance, a movie and a game. Last week we filmed some of the video but there was just some finishing touches left to do so we were doing that while the game was running. I am the director of the film so I didn't play the game at all.

I am really excited about the service next week because I am worship leader and that is one of my favourite parts. Also because the services are always fun to do!!! After church a family offered for us to come over to their house and have lunch with them. My dad agreed so we all went over. It was cool and I had fun.

Later on in the day, we went to the hospital to visit our sister. If you remember, earlier on in the year, she went into hospital because of an infection in her foot. Well the infection never went away fully so when she ran or put weight on it, her foot was getting worse so she had to go back in. Luckily this time, she isn't actually sick, just her leg is broken and she has to stay in a bed all day. I really hope she gets out soon!!!

Sunday Rugby Games

Yesterday I went with my Dad and siblings to watch my cousin's rugby games. The first game was a final and my cousin, Jared played. He won which made all the family very happy. Most of my Dad's sisters and brothers were there as well with their kids. The second game was a semi final where my cousin, Tom played. He lost his game which was a disappointment. The games were at different places. Jared's game was at Cornwell Park and there were a lot of people there with shops and stuff like that. Tom's game was at Victoria Park and was less busy. There were 2 games going and only about 200 people. The day was really fun because I got to see all the family and I got to see awesome games. I think that we won't be going to games until later on because those were the finals. While Tom was playing, I got to play a game of touch with my brother and my older cousins. It was fun but it ended pretty quickly because my cousin Micah kept on kicking the ball onto the actual field.

Netball Game (At the AMI Netball Courts)

Yesterday, I played another netball game at the AMI Netball Courts. We versed Remuera Primary and we won. It was a good game and we did deserve to win, but I think that we couldn't played much better. It didn't help that we didn't have 2 players, a coach or a manager. There was only 1 sub during the game so most of us played full game. The sports coordinator took us to the game and got us ready.

Our  game was at 5.05pm so it wasn't really late enough for us to go home so we all stayed at school until 4.45pm. While we were at school, we chose our positions which wasn't as easy and usual because our coach normally tells us the positions just before our game. We played and we shot hoops in the hall and we had milos just before we left.

I was Centre for the first 2 quarters and was Wing Attack for the last 2 quarters. I liked those positions but I would have liked to have been Centre for 3 quarters, but that's okay. In the last 2 minutes, it started to rain. Luckily we weren't a late game because we would have been soooooo wet! I enjoyed playing that game and I was so happy that we won.

Show Me

This is a Show Me that I did today in Maths. It shows 3 different strategies to solve 1 question. Enjoy :-)

Working Bee At Church

During the weekend on Saturday, my family and I went to church to help with the working bee that was happening. We went at 10am and stayed till about 1pm. When we first got there, my dad dropped me off along with my oldest brother and sister. He came back after a while with the people that he had picked up. We started to clean the walls because there was pencil drawings all over the wall.

At 11am, my Dad, my brother and I sanded 2 tables. My older brother had the machine and me and my Dad were sanding by hand. Once the top of the first table was finished, I got to use the machine for halve of the 2nd table. After a while, my hand started to get sore so I went inside and started to clean the toys.

There was a big bucket which a about 2 metres wide each way out. I was cleaning with my friend Haremate and Bonnie with her daughter, Gabby. They are both older than me but I still talk to them and it was actually fun. At 12.30 we all had lunch which was hot chips, fruit and some scones.

After lunch, we went home to rest and to get ready to go to meetings. Some time after we left, another family arrived and I am pretty sure that other people arrived too. I liked doing the working bee and I am sure that our church is much cleaner now!

The Ugly Duckling By Ana...... With a recording

There once was a duck that had 6 little eggs to look after. Now this duck wasn't just a normal duck though, she was the royal duck. She wasn't going to be cooked or anything. She was the princess’ special friend, well a duck friend.

As soon as the princess found out that her special duck had eggs, she got some more ducks to keep her company. By the time, the first crack appeared on the first egg, the princess had 3 ducks and 6 eggs waiting to come. The thing that was strange though was that the 6th egg was grey, but the rest were fine, normal. The duck keep it warm though.

Soon the eggs started to hatch one by one. All except the 6th one that was grey. The duck keep on sitting there, she was certain that this duckling was supposed to be born. She sat there and sat there and sat there, until one day, the egg started to hatch. The egg cracked open and out came a grey duck that was bigger and stronger than the rest.

Everyone was teasing the duckling none stop. One day, he went to the pond with his mother and a duck came up to him and shouted, “Get out of here, you don’t belong!” and hit the baby duckling. His mother ran up and shouted “Go away, he does belong, how dare you even think that!”

He got teased everyone day and soon he sensed his mother starting to dislike him. So one night, he decided to leave, he hopped onto the top of a plane and stayed there until the plane landed. He didn’t know where in the world he was. He jumped down and started to waddle, he waddled and waddled and waddled till he couldn't waddle anymore. The teased duckling stopped at a pond, by that time, it was the middle of the night.

During the night, it was cold, it was lonely and scary. The poor, cold thing stayed there all winter long. He was cold and in the snow asleep. When he woke, it was spring and he could see long necked swans around him. He looked down in the water to see the ugly brown thing that he expected to see, but it wasn't there. He could see a white long necked swan. The duckling was actually a swan!!

The kids that came to see the swans said, “Mother, Father the new one is the most beautiful. The swans didn’t mind at all that the new swan was the best. The most important thing though was that they were all very kind to him. He finally belonged somewhere.

The End! :-)

Penguin Happy Birthday Song

I found this song on my friend Sela's blog. I thought that it was pretty funny so I decided to put it onto my blog. Check it out. I hope you enjoy! :)

Rugby Games

Yesterday (Sunday 4/8/13) after church, I went with my Dad and my 2 younger sisters to go and watch rugby league games. First, we went and watched my cousin's game which was in Grey Lynn. It was a good game which he won, something like 58 - 15. I enjoyed the game and I also enjoyed seeing all the family. Especially my cousin who I saw for the first time, since he got back from Korea where he was working for a whole year.

After that game, we went to go and watch my aunty play in Papakura, which was a long drive from Grey Lynn. I am pretty sure that they won, but I am not sure because I was a little busy trying to get a coin out of the concrete ground for my little sister. My aunty played very well for only being on for the last 5 minutes.

I am looking forward to going again because I love cheering my family on and having fun with everyone!

The Hare and the Tortoise

One day, a fast hare challenged somebody, anybody for a race. Nobody wanted to race him, because he was the fasted out of the whole farm. In the end, a old, wise tortoise challenged the hare. The hare laughed and said, “You will never be able to beat me!”

Even though everyone thought that the hare was going to win, they started the race. The Hare was off and the tortoise started slowly. When the hare had got to a hill around the corner from the finish line, he decided to have a small sleep. After he had sleep for some time, he woke and saw the tortoise still only past the first corner so he sleep for longer.

After a long time, the tortoise got to the hare but he was still fast asleep. The tortoise keep going of course very slowly. When the tortoise was in sight of the finish line, the hare woke up and looked back to see the tortoise, he was nowhere to be seen.

He then looked forward and saw the tortoise nearly over the finish line with everyone cheering. The hare jumped up and started to run. He ran as fast as he could but it was too late. The tortoise crossed the finish line just as he was coming up to it. The tortoise had won!

I like this story because it proves that you can do anything even if you are the youngest, or the oldest, or the slowest.

Harold Visit

What is a friend?
A friend is someone who is kind and who sticks up for you.

What makes a good friend?
It would make someone a friend if they aren't mean to people and someone that doesn't judge people by what they look like.

Why are they important?
Friends are important because if nobody had friends, everyone would be lonely and the world would probably be much quieter than it is now.

My friends are awesome and I am so glad to have them. Today at Harold we learnt lots about what our body needs everyday and what a good friend is. We also asked a question: Is alone and lonely the same? It isn't, you could be in a room with 1,000 people, but if you had no body to talk to, you would be lonely. You could be by yourself in a room, but you might want to be alone so you wouldn't be lonely.

Extension Project

I have made a movie in extension, showing the data and my research about a investigation that I did. Take a look and I hope you enjoy! :-)

Netball Game

On Tuesday, I played the first game of netball for the term. We were all nervous because it was our first game and because the game was at 6.45pm! It was the latest game we have ever had! Luckily, after we had started playing for a while, we got back into the mood of playing and took out the game. In the first quarter, we were losing, 4-0. We were sad, but decided that we were going to step it up. By the end of the 3rd quarter, we were winning 6-7.

By the end of the game, our team had won, 9-7. We were all really happy and relived because of how we thought we would lose. I enjoyed playing that game and I definitely enjoyed winning again. Hopefully, our scores will stay high for the rest of the season!
