The Patu Mania

This is a Patu Mania. A Patu Mania was used as a Maori weapon but now they are used for the men in a Maori dance. The patterns I have designed are a mix out of a book my reading group read today.

Prayer Time

The candles were lit, the cloth was out, and the prayers were all set out nicely... We were all ready to start. In the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit, Room 3 started. The leaders both said a prayer each that someone in Room 3 had written and decorated beautifully.

One of the leaders then asked, “ Can we please say the Our Father.” So everybody prayed together. After that we had a quiet time to just reflect on the last week and think about how we can improve in this week. I feel really calm at that time of the day and for the whole of Prayer Time.

Soon after we have reflected and thought of how we can improve it is time to end our prayer time. In the name of the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit. One of the leaders blows out the candles. While everyone else gets settled for the day the leaders move the Prayer things back to the Prayer table.

The First 3 Weeks.

These past 3 weeks I have learnt new incredible things. I have learnt more about some things and just to reflect on others. It is really cool having Miss G as my teacher. In maths we have learnt about the Stem and Leaf graph which have been quite fun but other things have been more fun. I think the funest part is doing things on my netbook and helping others with their netbooks. I also liked learning the mihimihi.

Diggity

I knelt beside/next to Diggity.  He made no effort/ attempt to get up.  His neck was a pulpy mass/ lump of blood, and his rib cage rose and fell unevenly/ bumpily. Dad scooped/ dig up him into his arms and staggered/  walk falteringly up the beach.  Mum and Lucy were already in the car with the hatch/ boot up and engine running.  The vet said Diggity had lost heaps/  loads  of blood.  The outlook/ point of view wasn’t good.  When the phone rang/ encircle later that evening, nobody was in a hurry to answer/ reply it.  But Diggity did survive.

Peculiar Person

I’m a most peculiar person,
As almost everyone knows.
I’ve a crown on the top of my head,
And nails grow out of my toes.

I’ve eardrums that help me hear.
And eyeballs that help me see,
And there’s even a mole on the tip of my nose,
Yes, there’s nobody quite like me.

I’ve got ‘mussels’ that grow in my arms and my legs,
And shoulder blades on my back.
I’ve a rib-cage to hold my heart in -
There’s really not much that I lack.

There’s a button that does up my tummy,
And my funny-bone keeps me amused.
When I look at myself in the mirror,
It’s no wonder I feel confused.

I’m a most unusual person,
And even my doctor agrees,
For that’s what he said when he came to examine
The caps that I have on my knees.

And I sometimes get pins and needles,
When it’s raining cats and dogs,
But what else could you really expect,
From a person whole throat’s full of frogs!

Netbook Rollout

On Thursday 2nd of February Room 3 were very excited, because we were getting our new netbooks. The reason why we were doing this was to have a bit of a play for the first time and to get our user names and passwords. The netbooks were in boxes so we had to listen carefully to what Miss G said. Soon Miss G said, “Everybody get the green tag on the box and pull it up”, so everybody did. She told us to open up the box and take the netbook out, so everybody did. Miss G kept on telling the class the instructions and everybody followed without any fuss, these were the instructions.......
1) Take the netbook out of the protective bag.
2) Take the charger out of the box.
3) Put the box on the ground next to you.
4) Open up your netbook.
5) Remove the sticky protector.

Everybody was very excited about using their netbook then we did the next step.

6) Take the tissue off the keyboard.
7) Turn it on.
8) Click on “St Pius X school”
9) Click on make a user name and type in your name.
10) Make your password.

When we had finished that Miss G told us that we could play games and have a little look on the netbook. My best friend and I played a game called ‘solitaire’ and we raced so we could see who was the best.

This year I think that I will have a very good year with Miss G and the class. I am very excited.

Charism

This week Room 3 have been looking at Charism. We looked at our Emblem and Margaret Alyward. Our Emblem represents some things and these are what they are:
The Yellow at the top represents the Sun.
The Blue represents Water.
The Green represents Land.
The Cross represents Faith.
Margaret Alyward is the one who started the Holy Faith Sisters, who started our school. Her aim in life was to teach and look after children.

About Me

My name is Ana and I have three sisters and one brother. I have 2 younger sisters and one older, my brother is the oldest child. (and a Mum and Dad.)

I also have been in a dance studio for four years along with my two sisters. Just recently I have been into swimming at the beach and my family and I have been going every night after dinner for the last two weeks.

My favorite subject is writing. I like writing because when I write about something that happened in the past it reminds me of the time.

In the summer holidays this year I went to Melbourne, Australia with my Mum to visit my Aunty and her two kids. On the last two days my cousin, Aroha got appendicitis.

I expect 2012 to be a great year, full  of exciting things to do.
